Nutrition Services I - TBD
This is a 10 month, 4 hour/day position. The start date is as soon as possible. This position is open until filled.
DEFINITION
Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Manager receives direction from the Nutrition Services Coordinator, assists with food preparation, serving, and cleanup activities in a school kitchen. Performs other work as required.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Employees in this position assemble and cook food and perform other duties as assigned by the Nutrition Services Specialist or the Nutrition Services Manager.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties include but may not be limited to: providing sound customer service; hot and cold food prep work, cooking, packaging and assembling food, cleanup; cash handling and performing deposit entries; maintaining records and sanitation standards in accordance with health department and federal codes; being able to take task assignment from NSIII in the kitchen; complying with district required training; being able to perform duties on meal count software, email, and other computer programs as needed; operating kitchen equipment safely and effectively; other duties as assigned to support the goals of the department.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
- Methods of procuring, preparing and assembling all menu items for service;
- Operation, cleaning, and caring for kitchen utensils and equipment;
- District serving standards and specifications;
- Cash handling, maintenance of recipes, ingredients and production records;
- Standards of sanitation for personnel and food;
- Must be proficient in using a computer and related software programs.
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students, fellow employees, and the general public; work well in both team and independent settings;
- Read, write, and follow oral and written instructions with little supervision;
- Operate equipment safely in school kitchens;
- Implement district nutrition and serving standards and specifications;
- Complete cash and accounting duties as necessary;
- Maintain confidentiality;
- Must routinely lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and over 50 pounds with assistance;
- Complete all district required trainings.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent as required by Oregon Administrative Rules, Oregon Department of Education. Possession of a food handler’s card (Clackamas County). Must obtain food handler’s card within thirty (30) days of date of hire.
